Shannon Ma

is a freshman at Princeton University studying Economics with certificates in French and Music Performance.

Having studied violin and dance for fifteen years, Shannon cannot imagine her life without the performing arts. In 2021, she competed in the Yehudi Menuhin International Violin Competition and her violin performances have since been featured on stations including NBC Bay Area, the National Public Radio, and the Violin Channel. She went on to serve as concertmaster of the 2023 National Youth Orchestra of the United States, was honored as a National YoungArts winner, and received Santa Clara County’s Student Excellence in the Arts award.

Shannon grew up as a dance competition kid, and she now explores contemporary, jazz, ballet, and hip hop as a dancer and choreographer in Princeton’s BodyHype Dance Company. An avid journalist, Shannon loves writing art and culture articles for her college newspaper, The Daily Prince. Outside of the arts, Shannon is eager to venture into business journalism and finance, edit videos for dance or travel, watch movies, and hunt for the next best café in her area.
